Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of 8 dialogues on tenets of Christian belief, designed in particular to refute Antinomian beliefs. The dialogues discuss such subjects as Christ's human nature; whether the elect are chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world; salvation; sanctification; grace; and the idea of union before faith. The dialogues are followed by a collection of poetry titled "Poems upon several occasions divine and moral," which consist of several dozen religious and primarily occasional poems, many written by acquaintances. The collection includes poems titled On the glorious work of the eternal three in one; On death; The mongrel preacher; and On Methodists. Several of the poems are by or addressed to "Mrs. M. B-y," including In answer to a letter and On the law as a rule of life. The collection also contains several religious acrostics on the names of friends such as Thomas Davis and John Gill. The manuscript begins with three prefaces: one addressed "to the reader"; one addressed "to the Arminian reader"; and a third addressed "to the jumbling reader."
